FAQ
Can I rename different element types in one operation?
No, each operation works with one category at a time. You need to run separate operations for rooms, views, grids, etc., but each category can process multiple elements simultaneously.
What happens if I make a mistake with bulk renaming?
Use Revit's Undo function (Ctrl+Z) immediately after the operation to revert all changes. For complex corrections, you can use the replace function to fix specific text across all affected elements.
Can I use both prefix and suffix in the same operation?
Yes, you can add both prefix and suffix text in a single renaming operation. The tool will apply both modifications to all selected elements simultaneously.
Does this work with view templates and sheets?
Yes, the ReNamer tool supports view templates, sheets, and most other Revit elements that have editable names. Simply select the appropriate category from the dropdown list.
Can I see a preview before applying changes?
The tool shows the current names in the selection list. While there's no preview mode, you can always use Revit's Undo function if the results aren't as expected.
