FAQ
What happens if I accidentally close the tool during numbering?
The tool automatically saves your current settings including element type, parameter, prefix, suffix, and next number. Simply reopen the tool and continue where you left off.
Can I change the numbering format mid-sequence?
Yes, you can modify the prefix, suffix, or next number at any time during the numbering process. Changes will apply to subsequently selected elements.
How do I add leading zeros to my numbers?
In the "Next Number" field, type your starting number with the desired zero padding (e.g., "001", "0001"). The tool will maintain this format throughout the sequence.
Can I number elements in different views?
Yes, you can switch between views while the tool is active and continue numbering elements. The sequential numbering will continue regardless of which view you're in.
What if an element already has a value in the selected parameter?
The tool will overwrite existing values with the new sequential number. Make sure to backup your project or use a different parameter if you need to preserve existing data.
Does this work with custom project parameters?
Yes, the tool can use any parameter available for the selected element category, including custom project parameters you've created specifically for your naming conventions.
