Requirements

Before using Color Tabs by Project, ensure your environment meets the following prerequisites:

 Autodesk Revit: From version 2020 to newest.
NonicaTab: NonicaTab Pro or NonicaTab Free.

Usage

Basic Color Assignment

  1. Navigate to NonicaTab → Color Tabs by Project.
  2. Run Tool: Click the tool to assign colored lines to view tabs.
  3. Visual Results:
    • Overlines: Regular project views get colored lines above the tab
    • Underlines: Family editing views get colored lines below the tab
    • Consistent Colors: All views from the same project share the same color

Customizing Colors

  1. Restart Requirement: To reassign colors, you must restart Revit first.
  2. Edit Mode: Press Ctrl + Click on the Color Tabs by Project button.
  3. Modify Script:
    • Edit the color list in the opened script
    • First color: Applied when only one document is open (default: blue violet)
    • Second color: Applied to second project (default: black)
    • Add additional colors as needed
  4. Save Changes: Save the script and click Run or use the tool button.
  5. Apply Colors: The custom colors will be immediately applied and saved for future use.

Automatic Scheduling (NonicaTab PRO)

  1. Access Scheduler: In NonicaTab PRO, go to Set Up Details for the tool.
  2. Configure Automation:
    • Click Scheduler
    • Select Execute if open Revit file
    • Click Apply
  3. Automatic Execution: The tool will now run automatically when opening new Revit sessions.

FAQ

You must restart Revit before reassigning colors. Once restarted, press Ctrl + Click on the tool button to edit the color script, make your changes, save, and run the tool again.

Regular project views receive colored overlines (above the tab), while family editing views receive colored underlines (below the tab) to distinguish between different working modes.

Yes! The tool will apply the first color in your color list to all views when only one project is open, providing consistent visual identification.
