📋 Copy Value Parameters
Copy Value Parameters performs automated parameter value copying with category-based selection, unit conversion, and ID-to-name translation, addressing the difficulty of working with Revit's extensive data and eliminating manual copying.
Version 1.1 | Specials
Overview
While Revit models contain extensive data through parameters, it's often difficult to work with this information due to hidden parameters, complex data relationships, and time-intensive manual copying processes, this tool addresses those limitations by providing automated parameter value copying across element categories with intelligent unit conversion. This enables rapid parameter data management, value standardization, and information extraction with format control and category-wide application, significantly reducing the time spent on repetitive parameter copying tasks that are fundamental to data management, documentation consistency, and project information workflows.
Key Features
Usage includes:
- Category-Based Parameter Copying: Copy parameter values across entire element categories simultaneously.
- Fixed Value Assignment: Set standardized values to parameters across multiple elements with single operation.
- Parameter-to-Parameter Copying: Copy values from source parameters to target parameters with automatic format conversion.
- Unit Conversion Intelligence: Specify custom units with automatic conversion to project units.
- Hidden Parameter Access: Access and work with hidden or internal parameters not normally visible.
Requirements
Before using Copy Value Parameters, ensure your environment meets the following prerequisites:
Autodesk Revit: From version 2020 to newest.
NonicaTab: NonicaTab Pro.

Usage
Understanding Standard vs. Enhanced Parameter Management Methods
- Standard Revit Parameter Management:
- Individual Element Editing: Edit parameters one element at a time through properties panels
- Limited Bulk Operations: Limited bulk parameter editing capabilities through standard schedules
- Hidden Parameter Limitations: Cannot easily access hidden or internal parameters
- Manual Unit Conversion: Manual calculation and conversion required for different units
- Enhanced Parameter Copying (This Tool):
- Category-Wide Operations: Apply parameter changes across entire element categories simultaneously
- Automated Value Transfer: Copy values between different parameters with automatic format handling
- Hidden Parameter Access: Access and modify hidden or internal parameters not visible in standard interface
- Intelligent Unit Handling: Automatic unit conversion with custom unit specification capability
- ID Translation: Convert element IDs to readable names for improved documentation
Basic Parameter Copying Workflow
- Navigate to NonicaTab Pro → Copy Value Parameters.
- Category Selection: Choose target element category:
- Category Specification: Select category (e.g., Furniture) to apply parameter operations to all elements within category
- Element Scope: Tool affects all elements within selected category simultaneously
- Category-Wide Consistency: Ensure consistent parameter values across all category elements
- Parameter Selection and Configuration:
- Target Parameter: Select parameter to receive new values (e.g., Offset From Host)
- Parameter List Optimization: Tool optimizes loading by showing common parameters first
FAQ
How is this different from editing parameters manually in Revit?
Manual parameter editing requires individual element modification and cannot easily access hidden parameters. This tool enables category-wide parameter operations, accesses hidden/internal parameters, provides automatic unit conversion, and can translate IDs to readable names - making parameter management much more efficient and comprehensive.
What happens when I specify units like "1000 mm" in the value field?
The tool automatically converts the specified units to your project units. If you specify "1000 mm" in a project using feet, it converts to the equivalent feet value. If you don't specify units, the tool copies the number directly using project units.
Why don't I see all parameters in the list initially?
The tool optimizes loading time by showing common parameters first. If you don't find a specific parameter, select an element that has that parameter and click refresh - this updates the list to include all parameters available in the selected elements.
How does ID-to-name translation work?
When copying ID-based parameters (like Base Constraint levels), you can choose to copy the raw IDs or check the name conversion option. With name conversion enabled, instead of copying cryptic element IDs, the tool copies readable element names (e.g., "Level 1" instead of "ID_12345").
Can I copy values from hidden or internal parameters?
Yes, this is one of the tool's key advantages. It can access and copy from hidden or internal parameters that aren't normally visible in the element properties panel. This is particularly useful for parameters that only appear in schedules or are internal to Revit's calculations.
How does the tool handle different parameter formats?
The tool automatically recognizes parameter formats (numbers, text, distances, IDs, etc.) and handles conversion appropriately. Values are formatted according to your project units, and you can adjust decimal places through project unit settings for precise display control.
