πŸ“¦ Manage ScopeBoxes

Manage ScopeBoxes provides comprehensive detection and management of scope boxes across your Revit model, enabling efficient identification of unused scope boxes, view assignments, and direct deletion without navigating to specific views.
Version 1.3 | Cleaners

Overview

While Revit's default scope box management requires manually navigating to specific views to delete or manage scope boxes, this tool provides a centralized overview of all scope boxes with their view assignments. This enables efficient identification of unused scope boxes, incorrectly assigned ones, and batch deletionβ€”keeping your model organized and preventing scope box clutter in complex projects.

Key Features

Usage includes:

  • Comprehensive Scope Box Detection: Displays all scope boxes in the model with their current view assignments.
  • Usage Tracking: Clearly identifies which scope boxes are unused and which are actively cropping views.
  • Assignment Verification: Shows scope box names versus view names to identify incorrect assignments.
  • Direct Deletion: Delete scope boxes from any view without navigating to their specific locations.
  • Batch Management: Select and delete multiple scope boxes simultaneously for efficient cleanup.

Requirements

Before using Manage ScopeBoxes, ensure your environment meets the following prerequisites:

Autodesk Revit: From version 2020 to newest.
NonicaTab: NonicaTab Pro.

Usage

Understanding Standard vs. Enhanced Scope Box Management

  1. Standard Revit Management:
    • Navigate to specific views containing scope boxes
    • Select and delete scope boxes individually within each view
    • No overview of scope box usage across the model
    • Manual tracking of which scope boxes crop which views
    • Time-consuming process for multiple scope boxes
  2. Enhanced Scope Box Management (This Tool):
    • Centralized view of all scope boxes and their assignments
    • Direct deletion from any view location
    • Clear identification of unused scope boxes
    • Batch selection and deletion capabilities
    • Assignment verification through name comparison

Basic Scope Box Assessment Workflow

  1. Navigate to NonicaTab Pro β†’ Manage ScopeBoxes.
  2. Review Scope Box List: The interface displays all scope boxes with the following information:
    • Scope Box Name: The name assigned to each scope box
    • Associated View: Which view (if any) is currently cropped by the scope box
    • Usage Status: Clear identification of used vs. unused scope boxes
  3. Analyze Assignments: Compare scope box names with view names to identify proper or improper assignments.

Cleanup and Deletion Workflow

  1. Identify Cleanup Targets:
    • Unused Scope Boxes: Those showing no associated view
    • Duplicate Scope Boxes: Multiple scope boxes for the same purpose
    • Incorrectly Named Scope Boxes: Those that don't align with project naming conventions
  2. Selection Methods:
    • Individual Selection: Click specific scope boxes for targeted deletion
    • Bulk Selection: Use "Select All" option for comprehensive cleanup
    • Selective Bulk: Choose multiple scope boxes using standard selection methods
  3. Execute Deletion:
    • Click Delete to remove selected scope boxes
    • Process completes immediately without requiring view navigation
    • Deleted scope boxes are removed from all associated views

FAQ

Standard Revit requires you to navigate to specific views to manage scope boxes individually. This tool provides a centralized overview of all scope boxes with their view assignments, allowing direct deletion from any location and efficient batch management.

A scope box with no associated view is unused and not currently cropping any views in your model. These can typically be safely deleted to reduce model clutter unless you plan to use them for future views.

Compare the scope box name with its associated view name. If they don't align logically (e.g., "Kitchen Scope Box" assigned to "Bathroom View"), this likely indicates an incorrect assignment that should be corrected in the view settings.

Yes, you can select multiple scope boxes or use the "Select All" option to delete multiple scope boxes simultaneously. This is much more efficient than deleting them individually through standard Revit methods.

Regular cleanup during project development helps prevent scope box accumulation. Consider reviewing scope boxes when creating new views, after major design changes, or before project deliverables to maintain model organization.
